Choose a question for the return visit. A specific sound, a repeated reflection, or a place where the first recording lacked context is enough. Write it down before leaving.
Confirm access and visiting hours with the location. Charge the equipment, clear storage, and set the clocks to match. Record a short spoken slate describing where you are, who is present, and the conditions. Keep other visitors out of close recordings unless they agree to participate.
Capture room tone or ambient sound before the main sequence. When something catches your attention, state the time and direction without talking over the whole event. Record a wider view before moving in for detail.
Back up the originals after the visit. Make a separate edit for the episode. In your notes, distinguish an observation, a possible explanation, and a conclusion. A second visit that finds a mundane source can make a better episode than a first visit that leaves everything mysterious.
