The archive has a new rule: keep the silence

An editorial note on why uneventful footage belongs in the record.

Archive update — launch edition.

We are keeping the intervals between the interesting moments. A dramatic sound means more when a viewer can hear what came before it: footsteps, a moving jacket, a distant conversation, or several quiet minutes.

Future field uploads should include an accessible transcript or description, recording conditions, and a clear distinction between what happened and what someone thinks it means. Fiction will stay marked as fiction. Local stories will stay marked as legends unless documentation supports a factual claim.

The archive is open to uncertainty. It is also open to a good story. The labels are what let both coexist.
