Woodland: listen to the quiet.
A first visit. A long walk. A sound without a clear explanation.
On September 8, 2026, I went to Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum to capture B-roll. I walked across the grounds, but didn’t get all the footage I wanted. This was a beginning, not a finished investigation.
What I experienced
In a secluded area, I heard what sounded like a man groaning. I also heard branches breaking and movement in brush, without seeing an obvious source. I did not capture anything visibly unusual.
A sound without a visible source is a question, not proof. Wildlife, other visitors, acoustics, and ordinary environmental sounds remain possible explanations.
Next time
Return with a tighter shot list, establish the surrounding soundscape, and record longer stationary takes. The most useful thing I can bring back is context.
