A distorted guitar can demand your attention for three seconds. A line that catches you at the right moment can stay for years. The difference isn’t necessarily polish. Sometimes it’s the feeling that someone finally said the thing you couldn’t name.

Choose your volume

There’s a practical kind of freedom in deciding what deserves a reaction. You can care deeply without answering every provocation. You can make something loud without giving every loud thing a vote in your life.

Today’s experiment: spend the first ten minutes of making something before checking whether anyone else approves. Write the line. Record the sound. Keep the imperfect take. Give an idea enough quiet to find its own voice.
